Items that cannot be shipped through EDI FREIGHT services.
Important Notice
Shipping prohibited items may result in package seizure, legal action, and account termination. Please review this list carefully before shipping.
For the safety of our staff, customers, and the general public, the following items are prohibited from being shipped through EDI FREIGHT. This list is not exhaustive, and we reserve the right to refuse any shipment that we deem unsafe or inappropriate.
Dangerous Goods
- Explosives and fireworks
- Flammable liquids and gases
- Toxic and infectious substances
- Radioactive materials
- Corrosive substances
- Compressed gases
Illegal Items
- Illegal drugs and narcotics
- Counterfeit goods
- Stolen property
- Unlicensed firearms and weapons
- Prohibited wildlife products
Restricted Items
- Alcohol (requires special license)
- Tobacco products
- Prescription medications (without documentation)
- Currency and negotiable instruments
- Precious metals and stones over $5,000
Perishable & Fragile
- Fresh food without proper packaging
- Live animals (except with special arrangements)
- Plants and seeds (quarantine restrictions apply)
- Extremely fragile items without adequate protection
Additional Restrictions
Size and Weight Limits
- Maximum weight: 30kg per package (contact us for heavier items)
- Maximum dimension: 150cm on any single side
- Maximum combined dimensions (L+W+H): 300cm
Value Limits
- Standard shipments: Up to $5,000 NZD
- Insured shipments: Up to $50,000 NZD (additional coverage available)
- Items exceeding these values require special arrangements
International Restrictions
Additional restrictions may apply for international shipments based on destination country regulations. Common restrictions include:
- Food and agricultural products
- Medications and supplements
- Electronics with lithium batteries
- Cultural artifacts and antiques
- Certain textiles and materials

Special Handling Items
The following items may be shipped with special arrangements and additional fees:
- Fragile items (with appropriate packaging)
- Temperature-sensitive goods
- High-value items (with declared value insurance)
- Oversized packages
- Hazardous materials (with proper certification)
Consequences of Shipping Prohibited Items
If prohibited items are discovered in a shipment:
- The shipment will be stopped and may be seized
- The sender will be notified and may be liable for disposal costs
- The matter may be reported to relevant authorities
- The customer's account may be suspended or terminated
- Legal action may be taken where appropriate
